MediaGo vs Taboola: How to Choose Your First Native Ad Test

Choose MediaGo or Taboola around the campaign you can actually run: your offer, target country, landing page, conversion tracking and available account terms. Neither platform's name tells you which will produce a lower customer acquisition cost for your business. Start with one defined test, then compare the evidence.

If you already buy Meta or Google traffic, this is a practical way to assess another media source without treating account access as a complete growth strategy.

What are you comparing?

MediaGo describes its DSP as an advertising platform offering native and display ads, with automated bidding and performance optimization. Taboola's Realize documentation describes a media platform with campaign creation, multiple ad formats, conversion tracking and optimization tools. These descriptions establish what to investigate; they do not establish a winner for your offer.

A useful comparison goes beyond the platform label. Ask which placements, countries and account features are available for the specific campaign. Publisher names in marketing materials do not confirm that a particular placement will be available in your account or included in your test.

Mark a missing answer as “not confirmed.” Do not replace it with an assumption based on another advertiser's account. This scorecard is YC's suggested buying process, not a statement of fixed platform requirements.

Which should you test first?

Our recommendation is to start with the platform for which you can complete the preparation checks and fund a meaningful test within your own risk limit. If one route has clear eligibility, working measurement and confirmed operating terms while the other is still uncertain, the prepared route is the more practical first experiment.

When both are ready, prioritize the campaign with the clearer hypothesis. For example: “Can this product page generate qualified enquiries from this country using these three customer messages?” That is easier to evaluate than “Does native advertising work?”

If your budget is constrained, spreading it across two platforms, multiple countries and several offers may leave too little evidence in each group. A sequential test can be easier to interpret. This is an experimental-design choice, not a claim that one network is superior.

Do not rank platforms by the lowest quoted CPC

A cheaper click can still be expensive if few visitors become customers. Consider this illustrative calculation, with equal service scope and excluding fees:

Test B has the higher CPC and the lower qualified-lead cost. These are invented numbers to explain the calculation, not MediaGo or Taboola benchmarks. Include provider fees and payment costs when calculating the full cost of your own test.

Separate platform choice from account-provider choice

You have two decisions: where to buy traffic and how to arrange the account, payment and support. An attractive agency fee does not prove campaign fit. A suitable platform does not prove that a supplier's funding and refund process works for your team.

Before paying a provider, confirm the advertiser, contracting entity, permitted user access, service scope, minimum funding, charges and unused-balance process. Ask which decisions depend on the platform and which tasks the provider performs. Use our agency quote comparison guide for the commercial side.

Questions buyers ask

Is MediaGo cheaper than Taboola?

There is no useful universal answer for your campaign. Compare actual spend, qualified outcomes, fees and sales value under a defined test. Published averages are not your quote or your result.

Can I use the same landing page on both?

You can propose the same destination, but acceptance, measurement and performance need to be checked for each platform. Keep the offer consistent where practical and use distinct tracking links so you can identify traffic sources.

Does an agency account include campaign management?

Only if the agreement includes it. Account access, funding coordination and campaign optimization are separate work items. Confirm who is doing each before launch.

Ask YC about your proposed media setup

Send your website, product category, target countries, preferred platform and expected monthly spend to YC Global Tech. We will check the relevant resource availability and proposed account arrangements before quoting. Fees, support scope, funding conditions and any applicable rebate require confirmation for the specific advertiser.

For a Taboola-specific route, see our Taboola account services. If your team already has Meta assets, use the creative adaptation checklist to prepare your first test.
